Design Process

01

Introduction Call / Meeting

We can schedule an Introduction Call or an In-Person Meeting. It’s during this phase that we learn a bit more about your project. We can help you figure out what services you will need, any potential issues that arise, and to see if we are a good fit to help you get your project done well.

02

Client Proposal

After we have our Introduction Call / Meeting, we have a better understanding of what your project entails and how we can assist. We then send over a Client Proposal which lines out what our services will be and the cost of what our fees would be for the project. This is a non-contractual agreement for the client to sign if they are in agreement with the services and fee.

03

Welcome Packet

The Client Welcome Packet will be sent to the client and entails the design services, as mentioned in the proposal, the schedule for the design of the project, the payment schedule and ways to contact us if you have any questions.

04

Client Contract

This is a not-so-glamorous, but necessary, step to make sure both the client and architect are protected and to establish the deliverables that the architect has contractually promised to the client.

05

Begin Design!

This is where all the fun begins! Both the client and architect hit the ground running on design decisions and choices that need to be made in order to meet the project timeline and budget. Everything with the design starts coming to life during this step.

06

Design Meetings Between Client & Architect

Throughout the design of the project, the client and architect will have regular meetings to discuss the client’s vision, expectations, wants and needs to make sure the project is staying on track. These meetings will be a give and take where the architect will also give input on the design, schedule and provide expertise to the project.

07

Client Sign-off At The End of Each Design Phase

Once the client is satisfied with how the design is coming along at each phase, the architect will request the client sign-off for their approval. Based on the fee schedule, the architect will also send the client an invoice for the work rendered thus far, if the design phase is approved.

08

Permitting (If necessary)

Based on your project scope & size, a permit may be required by your city or jurisdiction. This is the point in the project, if a permit is required, we will submit all of the necessary required drawings and/or application for permitting. If your project is eligible for needing a permit, we will inform you during the proposal phase of this project, way before we get to this point in the design process.

09

Begin Construction

After lots of meetings and discussions, the project will now be ready for construction! Based on the design services agreed upon earlier in the project, the architect can now help the client choose a contractor that will be the best fit for the project. The architect can also oversee the construction process to make sure the project is coming to life according to the construction drawings and the client/architect’s vision.
